Winegrower Museum, in honour of viticulture
In the cellars of Domaine de Montbenay, whose origins date back to the remote Middle Ages, the Winegrower Museum invites visitors to discover an exceptional collection of tools and objects connected with vines and wine.
Several cellars are open to visitors. The first cellar is dedicated to the work of the vines, from pruning to harvesting, not to mention the care bestowed on the vine stocks. The visit then goes on to the wine press where visitors can admire two granite presses with wooden baskets.
In the second cellar, which is undoubtedly the most impressive one, visitors can admire 18th century oak vases made by Rhineland coopers. The most imposing one has a capacity of 22,000 litres.
The third cellar exhibits the tools of a cooper, the tools necessary to mature wine and those for work in the cellar.
Finally, the partisseur’s room, where the partisseur used to stay during the harvesting season, now presents a superb collection of frosted glasses, carafes and jugs.
Visitors can also share a typical moment of Lake Geneva conviviality around a glass of wine or grape juice together with a plate of cooked pork meats or cheese.
