The registration of the pile dwellings in the UNESCO World Heritage Programme constitutes the Lake Geneva Region's second entry after the recognition of Lavaux in 2007.
The registration of the prehistoric pile dwellings around the Alps comprises a selection of 111 outstanding lakeside villages among over a thousand known sites in six countries bordering the Alps: Switzerland, Austria, France, Germany, Italy, and Slovenia. The series consists of the remains of prehistoric settlements dating from 5000 to 500 BC. (JC) Switzerland, the project leader, has 54 sites, of which 24 are situated in the Three Lakes Region. In the Lake Geneva Region, the following ten sites are now part of the world heritage of humanity:

- Morges – Stations de Morges
